Our Network Rules

This is basically what we expect from everyone who chats on AustChat.

Whilst these rules are at times flexed beyond their limits, we expect everyone to keep them in mind while they chat on our network.

Network Rules
1.  
The ONLY right anyone has on AustChat.net is our right to remove you from the server WITHOUT explanation at any time. This is our network and we make the rules, chatting is NOT a right it is a "priviledge".
2.  
Nothing illegal is allowed on AustChat.net, this means no child pornography, beastiality, or violence including any material, websites or chat of an illegal or violent nature. Breaking this rule will result in an instant disconnection or "kill" off the network and repeated offenders will be banned from the network.
3.  
No flooding, nuking, IP spoofing (including gates, BNC's or proxies), or any kind of "DOS" (denial of service attacks) on either users or the servers is tolerated. Sending of files that contain trojans or are of a virus like nature including spyware is prohibited. These will result in an instant disconnection "kill" and ban "Z-Line" from the network. (YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!)
4.  
No mass advertising "spamming" is allowed on the network, this includes mass messages, notices or invites to a room. Advertising of other chat networks is also not allowed under any circumstances.
5.  
Adult channels are allowed on AustChat, however these must be clearly marked "18+ Adults Only". Any channels found to be encouraging minors to their rooms, or are of an illegal nature will be closed down and forbidden from the network.
6.  
"Bots" or "IRC Robots" are allowed on the network providing they are not of a "war" type nature. Basically this means that as long as the Bot is used for fun or for serving of files etc then it is allowed. Any bots found to be used for spamming, flooding, nuking, DOS (Denial Of Service) attacks or in general drain the resources of this network or any other networks wil be killed immediately and the offending IP or hostname G-lined from AustChat.net
7.  
Do NOT impersonate any of the AustChat staff or services/bots. Miss representing yourself as one of our staff will earn you an instant ban "G-Line" from the network of a permanent nature.

Chatting Guidelings
1.  
Treat others how you wish to be treated. IRC is a mostly unmoderated medium and you connect to our network at your own risk. However users who repeatedly abuse or harass other chatters will be dealt with in an appropriate manner. We the network management cannot view private conversations and hence will not get involved in disputes that occure in private, users are encouaged to use the /ignore command for such problems.
2.  
Please do not use racial, ethnic, religious or sexual slurs against other users. This encourages a friendly atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.
3.  
Do not use this network or its services to harass, stalk or abuse other users of this network. Such activities are illegal in most countries and users found to be conducting such activities will be removed from the network permanently and any necessary evidence passed onto the relative authorities if deemed appropriate.
4.  
Remember it is your choice wether to connect or disconnect from this network. If you are offened by someone elses chat, then you have the option to disconnect or change to another channel.
5.  
If you do not agree with the way a particular channel is run, then you have the option to register and run your own channel according to your own rules. Each channel is run by its "Founder" and the staff put in place "Operators" or "Ops" we do not condone or decide how each channel is run.

We the adminstration of AustChat.net cannot be held responsible for anything that transpires on this network. While we endevour to create and uphold a friendly and enjoyable enviroment for chatters to use, we cannot police everything, nor things we are not made aware of.

We also cannot be held responsible for childrens activities here on AustChat.net. Children who use this network do so at their own risk and it is the responsibility of the child's parents/guardians to supervise their child's activities on AustChat.net at all times. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to install and use appropriate filtering software easily available online.
